3.1 Photovoltaic effect

Photoelectricity refers to all electrical phenomena resulting from the action of light on matter, causing electrons to be ejected from the material: photoelectric emission, photoconductivity and the photovoltaic effect. The latter is also associated, through the judicious choice of a suitable material, with the appearance of electromotive forces, enabling direct conversion of radiation energy into electrical power.
