3. Performance analysis
The choice of a modulation strategy depends on the criteria, or indicators, that the operator wishes to optimize. Among these, two main families can be distinguished: those based on a temporal analysis of signals and those based on a frequency analysis of signals. After presenting the frequency analysis tools that are essential for evaluating a frequency indicator, we take a closer look at three indicators in particular: the linear operating range, the reduction of switching losses, and the harmonic content of the spectrum of electrical quantities at load level. The first two are temporal indicators, while the last is a frequency indicator. All three will be applied to voltage inverters.
