2. LCA methods applied to electrical engineering and indicators

2.1 LCA standards and stages

LCA is a multi-criteria method for quantifying the impacts of a "product" (be it a good, a service or even a process), from the extraction of its raw materials to its end-of-life disposal, via the distribution and use phases, i.e. "from cradle to grave". Figure 1 illustrates this life cycle, without the circularity part, which will be dealt with in a separate section.
