As dual excitation machines are essentially designed for variable speed operation, we will only deal with variable frequency operation in this dossier.

Two modes of operation can be envisaged in this case: open-loop and autopilot operation .

In both cases, two types of operation are to be considered:

  • engine operation,

  • generator operation (alternator).
