6. Marking

All electrical machines must be fitted with one or more nameplates (standard EN 60034-1). The minimum information required is :

  • name of manufacturer or brand ;

  • manufacturer's serial number or identification mark ;

  • rated voltage ;

  • rated frequency for AC machines.

Other indications are :

  • power, current, speed and service ratings ;

  • excitation characteristics ;

  • manufacturer's machine code and year of manufacture ;

  • for reciprocating machines: number of phases and rated power factor ;

  • the degree of protection provided by the enclosures...
