4. Conclusion

The RE 2020 is the environmental regulation for all new construction.

The French government has commissioned the GIE (Groupement d'intérêt écologique), under the direction of the Plan bâtiment durable, to establish a common frame of reference to succeed the RE 2020. The aim is to define future environmental regulations based on work already undertaken, and including new themes other than carbon and energy.

Following the entry into force of the RE 2020 standard in January 2022, the French government is not slowing down the pace and is already anticipating what's to come by revising its ambitions upwards. To this end, Stéphanie Dupuy-Lyon, Director General of Planning, Housing and Nature (DGALN), has appointed the Plan Bâtiment Durable (PBD), the HQE-GBC Alliance, the Effinergie collective and the Collectif des démarches quartiers bâtiments...
