3. Acoustics regulations

Acoustic regulations must be applied to new buildings and to new parts added to existing buildings (additions or extensions). On the other hand, there are no acoustic requirements for renovations and refurbishments. However, we strongly advise you to refer to the regulatory requirements in force for new buildings. Above all, care should be taken not to degrade existing acoustic performance, for example when changing floor coverings. Financial assistance for soundproofing older homes is available under certain conditions (contact ANIL, the French national agency for housing information, for information on these grants).
