5.1 Classification
Depending on the region, available clays, architectural traditions and manufacturers' creativity, a wide variety of interlocking clay roof tiles can be found in France. However, they can be grouped together, as shown in the table 1 , according to format, size, shape of the upper surface, profile and interlocking system.
