5. Water vapour diffusion factors
The factors that allow water vapour to diffuse through a wall are :
temperature differential ;
the degree of humidity (or relative humidity, or partial pressure) is different on each side of the wall.
5.1 Temperature
Calculations of diffusion through a wall are always carried out assuming a permanent hygrothermal regime on both sides of the wall.
The lower the outside temperature, the greater the risk of condensation.
When condensation occurs in the mass (e.g. at the interface between a concrete wall and its interior plaster), the moisture is deposited in a specific plane, the temperature of which is important to know....
