4. Law of January 4, 1978 (known as the "Spinetta" law)
Following on from the Napoleonic Code (1804) and the law of January 3, 1967, the law bearing his name, passed on January 4, 1978, was drawn up – not without difficulty – under the aegis of the Ingénieur Général des Ponts et Chaussées Adrien SPINETTA, with a threefold aim:
unclog the courts;
ensure better protection for users by giving priority to compensation over the search for liability;
speed up claims settlement.
