2. Verification of scaffolding structures. Limit states principles
Scaffolding is a very special type of metal framework, mainly made of metal tubes (most of them round), joined together by fittings or junctions with bridges welded to the tubes (modular systems) or welded together (framed systems).
They must be designed to meet safety requirements with regard to stability and suitability for use under the most unfavorable load combinations (cf. ) in all phases of assembly, use and dismantling.
They must be free from exaggerated deformation, buckling (local or global) and tilting.
Their overall stability must be assured, and they must not be liable to overturn or slip. The components of these structures, when reused, must remain in the elastic range.
