5. Execution rules

The rules for the execution of steel structures are set out in EN 1090 and, of course, a large part of this document specifies the requirements to be met when making connections, both in terms of part preparation and the use of the various assemblers. It is therefore a particularly important set of texts for the various subjects covered in these articles on joining methods.

  • The first part of the standard, EN 1090-1, specifies the requirements for assessing conformity with respect to performance characteristics, and in particular the assessment of methods relating to all the "activities required to produce the component, which may include manufacturing, welding, mechanical fastening, assembly, testing and documentation of the declared performance characteristics".
