3. Main properties and uses
3.1 Dense silico-calcareous
Sand-lime bricks have compressive strengths ranging from 6 to 60 MPa. Their density ranges from 600 to 2,200 kg/m 3 . Their thermal conductivity is on a par with that of conventional dense materials such as concrete and clay bricks. This conductivity ranges from 1.16 to 1.63 W/(m · K) for typical densities of 1,700 to 2,100 kg/m 3 .
When compressive strength exceeds 200 MPa, bricks generally have very good frost resistance. They can withstand temperatures of up to 550°C.
