4. Conclusion

The development of lightweight structures is associated with a context largely marked by the significant development of numerical methods. Designers' approaches are not confined to the use of tools provided by computers. Pioneers have drawn on their imagination, daring and experience to produce innovative structural compositions.

Now we have to face up to new challenges, including the essential one of adapting to the energy and climate context of the 21st century. Lightness is no longer just one of the parameters of the problems facing engineers. The dynamics of the context will require them to propose adaptable solutions, capable of reacting to sudden and significant variations, and to think and choose modes of ruin to avoid human losses.

We're sure they'll rise to the challenge!
