8. Areas of use
These binders are mainly used to treat materials for road construction. There are three main fields of application:
in-situ or in-plant soil treatment ;
gravel processing in power plants ;
in-situ recycling of old pavements.
Thanks to the technique of treating soils or aggregates with hydraulic road binders, it is now possible to recycle materials with mediocre initial characteristics, such as limestone, silt, clay, sand, marl, etc., for use in earthworks and road bases. Old pavements can be reprocessed in situ with hydraulic road binders, rather than landfilled and replaced with new materials.
