5. Glossary – Definitions

Composite member

Structural element comprising concrete and structural or cold-formed steel elements, linked together by connection in order to limit longitudinal slippage between concrete and steel and the separation of these elements.

Composite behaviour

Behavior appearing after the connection has reached its efficiency due to the hardening of the concrete.

Composite beam

Mixed element subjected mainly to bending.

Composite slab

A slab in which profiled plates are initially used as permanent formwork and then collaborate structurally with the hardened concrete, acting as tensile reinforcement in the finished floor.
