3. The color

3.1 General presentation

The term color covers different concepts; to avoid any errors or misunderstandings, we need to distinguish between what we call color-light and color-matter:

  • the notion of color-light is directly relative to light sources and involves only the characteristics of the eye and light;

  • color-matter concerns light reflected or transmitted by a material object; in this case, the phenomenon involves the eye, light and matter.
