4. Insulating glass units
4.1 Glass component thicknesses
-
Annealed or hardened monolithic components
For the calculation of strains and stresses, the thickness of monolithic components to be taken into account is equal to the commercial thickness published by the manufacturers.
The standard thicknesses of the usual glass panes that can be assembled in insulating glass units are: 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 19 mm.
The dimensions of most basic products are: length: 6.00 m and width: 3.21 m.
Tempered glass is more resistant to mechanical stress and thermal breakage. Their fragmentation into small pieces enables them to be classified as safety glass.
