Fixing roofing support timbers
Roofing timbers are attached to the structure, usually to the rafters, using :
or steel nails, smooth twisted or notched ;
corrosion-resistant steel (stainless steel or galvanized steel) with a minimum thickness or diameter of 1.83 mm and a minimum length of 63.5 mm per leg. Staple fastening is only permitted for support wood with a maximum thickness of 25 mm.
In the case of metal framing, the supporting timbers are fastened with 6 mm diameter self-tapping cemented steel or stainless steel screws.
