A study in 2021, Germany, comparing different electricity storage methods for a self-sufficient residential building powered by photovoltaic panels, concluded that electricity storage in batteries was economically and technically attractive for very short-term storage, but that, for seasonal storage, hydrogen storage was more economically attractive . They compared hydrogen storage at 160 bar and in LOHCs (H0-DBT). They concluded that :
