3.1 Overview of the different types of process
Deacidification processes can be classified into three main families:
scavengers or adsorption processes, which aim to remove H 2 S or other minority sulfur compounds (COS, RSH, CS 2 , light sulfides), suitable for gases with low H 2 S contents;
redox processes, which aim to remove H 2 S, suitable for gases with low to moderate H 2 S concentrations, and which have the advantage of removing sulfur directly in solid form ;
