5.1 Exergy of a combustible mixture

The exergy of a fuel mixture under ambient conditions has been defined in [BE 8 311] , taking as reference a zero exergy for flue gases at 0°C under atmospheric pressure. It corresponds roughly to the opposite of the enthalpy variation of the system during combustion at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure, i.e., for a mixture containing one unit of mass or volume of fuel, to its calorific value:
