3. Functional design through knowledge integration
We saw that finding solutions by automating tasks could be interesting, for example by defining parameterized parts. Features have also been introduced as a first step in the integration of knowledge, particularly business knowledge, into CAD systems. The desire to automate digital processes, from design to manufacturing, has led to questions about the use of knowledge in companies. From a strategic point of view, such an approach is in line with innovation and total quality. Finally, in an extended enterprise context, the sharing and even transfer (and possible loss) of skills requires the implementation of appropriate responses.
