3. Critical mapping of existing approaches to nanotechnology ethics
The overview we are proposing is based on the typology established by sociologist Brice Laurent in his book Les politiques des nanotechnologies. . The modes of intervention of NST ethics are mainly of two types, he explains: "ethics-truth" and "ethics-politics".
This is not a literature review, nor is it a review of ethical theories (such a review would require an equally theoretical or meta-ethical discussion, and would take us off the subject of NST). The aim is to review approaches to ethics in the field of NST, i.e. the ways in which ethics intervenes in the space of public discussion of NST.
