2. Return on investment in prevention: what are we talking about?
The economic evaluation of prevention becomes a necessity, and implicitly, it is considered to be a matter of showing that this economic evaluation presents a favourable balance sheet for the company. This is known as return on investment in prevention. But what exactly are we talking about here?
For a company decision-maker, the issue of prevention is not an abstract subject: it's not a question of "doing prevention", but of deciding on concrete actions to be taken, decisions to be made, which will have an impact on the health and safety of employees working for the company, and even beyond (subcontractors, but also users, companies). Decisions which will have an impact on the budget at his disposal, and on the economic equilibrium of the structure he manages.
