5. Conclusions

This article presents existing approaches to modeling pressure wave propagation in confined tunnel environments.

These abacus-based analytical approaches are quick to implement, and even if they have a few limitations, they provide quite acceptable estimates in most cases.

In the particular case of tunnels, geometric configurations can be reduced to simple cases, and can be studied with these methods, at least as a first evaluation. They have the advantage of being quick to use and less costly than a CFD approach.

It should be noted that an analysis by the engineer of the geometrical configuration and the appropriate method applicable is essential to study the propagation of a pressure wave using these simplified methods.
