3. PPE standardization

3.1 CEN and ISO standards

With the exception of certain live working equipment standardized by Technical Committee CLC/TC 78 of the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), the European Commission has entrusted the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) with the task of drawing up European standards to support the application of the PPE Directive 89/686/EEC. A total of seven PPE Technical Committees (TC) were set up in 1988 or reactivated at that time, and are still active today (see table 2 ). A working group attached to technical committee CEN/TC 122, working in liaison with the other TCs, has been tasked with preparing a standard on ergonomic principles to be taken into account by writers...
