3.1 Normative/regulatory framework
Currently, in the building and public transport sectors (aviation, marine and rail), the legal and/or regulatory framework dealing with fire safety is based on a prescriptive approach. The fire performance of products placed on the market must be assessed. This assessment is carried out using calorimeters. Depending on the type of product and its use, the legislator prescribes a minimum level of performance that the product must achieve.
