3. Transposition strategy for industrial activities
The implementation of defense-in-depth in industry was first raised and studied in the wake of the AZF accident, then introduced in a circular in 2003 which was subsequently repealed. For the time being, only nuclear safety remains associated with the concept of defense-in-depth. Although the attempt to introduce defense in depth into the regulations governing facilities classified for environmental protection (ICPE) has been shelved for the time being, the fact remains that the application of this concept remains desirable. This is borne out by the various transpositions that have already been made in different areas of civil life.
