5.1 Pseudo-static method
The seismic effects to be considered in a retaining wall calculation can be simulated using a pseudo-static approach, which assimilates the effects of the earthquake to equivalent inertial forces acting on both the soil mass and the retaining wall itself (figure 26 ).
