6.1 PBT arc-path resistant
The electronics and electrical sectors remain major consumers of PBTs. Plastics in this field are widely used for their electrical properties, and in particular their high insulating capacity.
Depending on the standard and construction of the electrical parts, and also on the field of application, a number of criteria must be met; these criteria are grouped together in a standard: DIN VDE 0110 (IEC664, 664A). This standard applies to low-voltage currents, in particular up to 1,200 V for direct currents and 1,000 V for alternating currents, with a rated frequency of up to 30 Hz.
