2. Implementation

The processing of oils poses no particular problems and is carried out in the state of acceptance by general methods of mixing, dispersion and emulsion.

Elastomers and resins, on the other hand, need to be cross-linked by the addition of vulcanizing agents, catalysts and the like, and possibly by the action of heat.

There are a number of different industrial models:

  • Formulation can be carried out by producers who deliver mixtures ready for processing by moulding, extrusion, etc., or by processors;

  • shaping and vulcanization can be carried out by processors, or by applicators using ready-to-use products.
