4.1 Solidarity plug obligation

In addition to the obligation to provide water fountains in certain public places (see § 3.7), the French Environment Code imposes measures to limit the development of plastic or prevent this material from being lost in nature.

Single-use plastic beverage containers with a plastic cap or lid must be designed in such a way that the cap or lid remains attached to the body of the container during use (Dir. 2019/904 "SUP", art. 6 and Appendix C).

This obligation does not apply to glass or metal beverage containers with plastic caps and lids, or to single-use plastic beverage containers containing foodstuffs in liquid form intended for special medical purposes: foodstuffs intended to meet the nutritional requirements...
