6. Health and safety

Most of the monomers used in the manufacture of PMR polyimides are, to varying degrees, toxic products (cf. occupational medicine safety data sheets for each species presented in table 1 ). They must be handled in a ventilated room or workshop, whether in solution or prepreg form.

When MDAs are used, handling is carried out in a clean room, with recovery of volatile products, and operators must be fully protected by waterproof overalls and helmets. In addition, systematic medical check-ups every year, or even every 6 months for the most exposed, are strongly recommended (blood count or complete blood analysis). Excess and residual solvents and prepregs must be recovered in sealed packaging for subsequent destruction....
