5. Improving the tribological properties of plastics

The friction properties of plastics can be improved in three different ways:

  • by modifying their molecular structure or super-structure;

  • by blending with other polymers;

  • by adding certain fillers to the polymers.

Here, we consider only the last two possibilities.
