3. Protection against damage during use

Resistance to oxidation and the stability and maintenance of mechanical properties at temperature are critical for CMC applications in the aerospace sector . In some applications, temperatures can reach up to 1,600°C, in air or under the high pressure of gas mixtures containing oxidizing species.
