2. Carbon fibers
Table 7 compares the properties of PES, PEI and PA 6-6, and table 8 compares those of POM, PPS and PEEK reinforced with glass fibers and the same proportion of carbon fibers. We have chosen reinforcement percentages between 10 and 40%, so as to enable the reader to observe the variations in properties associated with increasing proportions of carbon fiber.
Spectacular gains in tensile strength, flexural strength and flexural modulus compared to compounds with glass fibers, as well as an increase in electrical conductivity between 10% and 40% carbon fiber, are particularly noteworthy.
