6. Modeling the drawing stage

Since 1966, the cast film process has been the subject of increasingly complex models designed to predict film geometry (width and thickness distribution) and the appearance of stretchability limits as a function of the transformation parameters used in the process. Figure 22 illustrates all the parameters involved in the stretching step. It can be seen that these parameters are numerous and not always accessible to the machine operator.
