3.1 Poly(ethylene terephthalate) or PET

Petrosourced PET is one of the world's most important polymers, accounting for 18% of total polymer production. It ranks alongside polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polystyrene in the top 5 most-produced polymers. PET's two main applications are polyester fibers for the textile sector and plastics for the food industry (bottles, trays or films) .
