6. Performance
The performance of adhesive tapes always depends on the materials to which they are applied and the stresses to which they are subjected.
For this reason, all application parameters must be checked before recommending the use of a specific product, hence the importance of drawing up specifications (see "Asking the right questions" box).
Once the adhesive tape has been selected for the application, some manufacturers need to validate this choice with laboratory tests to prove the tape's compatibility with the material(s). This may involve peel, shear or pull-off tests.
