2.1 Problems and solutions
In France, Big Data, insofar as mathematics finds models in data, is not yet the subject of major projects or transformations. Success stories mainly concern "Web" companies, no doubt due to a mix of abundant data, which is moreover central to the business, and the youth of structures and people, favorable to the adoption of decision-making mechanisms based more on the quantitative than on experience. Now, before going on to describe the methods we've seen working, let's take a look at a case study from Google, to illustrate the scale of the transformations taking place.
