3. The third S: cleaning

It's very important to have prepared the equipment and cleaning products before the 5S worksite, so as not to waste time looking for them on the day of the intervention.

Cleaning, yes, but inspecting while cleaning; that's the essential aim of this third phase (figures 6 and 7 ). When we clean a workbench or a machine thoroughly, we find loose bolts, oil or water leaks, electrical anomalies, etc.: a whole series of defects whose source is not visible when the equipment is covered.
