2.1 Technology overview: how it works

To bridge the gap between these two communication media - the "good old print" and the "new smartphone" - a number of technologies have evolved and adapted.

Some, such as QR code or image recognition, are technologies based on "optical" characteristics, while others, such as NFC, use radio waves.

The aim of this article is not to be exhaustive, nor to go into the details of each technology, but rather to gain a better understanding of the most commonly used today, to understand how they work, and what they have in common and what they differ from, in order to facilitate the choice according to the context of use.
