4.1 Hardware design

Stacker pallet trucks
Only manual forklift-trucks used for lifting operations are considered to be machines covered by Directive 98/37/EC of June 22, 1998. It follows that :
pallet trucks and stackers must be CE marked and comply with the provisions of Law 91/1414 of December 21, 1991, transposed into the French Labour Code, in particular by Decree 93/41 of January 11, 1993;
Vendors (manufacturers or importers) must issue users with a CE declaration of conformity.

Standardization
While the regulations governing manual forklift-trucks are fairly basic, and often not adapted to the equipment currently being manufactured, standardization is very copious, and it is essentially to this that reference should be made.
