2. Resources

Like other modes of transport, air freight requires the deployment of substantial and costly resources, even though it only handles a small proportion of international trade by weight:

  • in-flight (aircraft) and ground (trucks) capabilities;

  • terminal installations at airports ;

  • increasingly sophisticated information systems.

But this list lacks the essential element: people. To quote a 16th-century French economist: "There is no wealth but man". There can be no quality service without quality, well-trained personnel, whatever the job: sales or operations, line management, IT or accounting, not forgetting the cabin crew on cargo aircraft.
