3. Glass corrosion
Industrial glass is renowned for its chemical inertness. Laboratory glass allows visual control of reactions and is unaffected by reaction agents and products. In fact, their composition has been optimized to ensure high durability. However, as glass is a state of matter, there are also glasses whose chemical durability is such that they dissolve in aqueous solutions.
