2. Detailed kinetic mechanisms
The interest in experimentally obtained results in the field of elementary chemical kinetics is evident in the development of theories capable of interpreting, and ultimately predicting, elementary rate constants. The interest of these data, both experimental and calculated, is also significant for applications. In combustion, for all thermal processes, aspects linked to chemical reactivity can be taken into account by implementing detailed kinetic mechanisms in industrial ("in-house") or commercial CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) codes. Most of the experimental data collected depends on not just one, or even a few, but several tens, hundreds or even thousands of elementary reactions. Despite the lack of kinetic data, it is tempting to try and validate detailed kinetic models using the experimental results obtained.
