6. Main characteristics of current supercontinuum sources

Table 1 summarizes the main characteristics typical of supercontinuum sources built from pump lasers operating in different regimes. It should be noted that this table only presents general rules resulting from the pumping of microstructured fibers using the most commonly encountered lasers. Supercontinua obtained in particular fibers (e.g. with two zero-dispersion wavelengths) or from less common pump lasers will have different characteristics from those presented in this table.
